Where each pallet size works best
48" x 40" wins in North American warehousing because it works with common pallet truck forks, 96-inch rack beams, and 53-foot trailers. It is also the easiest size to source in wood, plastic, and export-ready variants. If your buyers, carriers, and 3PL partners are US-based, this size reduces surprises.
1200 x 800 mm is the safe choice for European replenishment, retail backrooms, and pooled pallet programs. It is smaller than the GMA footprint, which improves aisle handling in some European facilities but changes trailer cube and rack planning in US buildings.
1200 x 1000 mm fits industrial exports well when buyers want more deck depth for cartons, drums, or heavier unit loads. It is a practical crossover size for some global operations because it supports more product depth than EPAL 1 without moving all the way to a US 48x40 pallet.
